The elderly population is also growing, with 89 million people over the age of 65 (Greenberg, 2013). With increased numbers of minorities and elderly, as health professionals, it is important to understand some of the specific stressors impacting these groups. After reading Chapter 15 in your text, critique the effects of cultural background on an individuals response to stress. Explain three stressors discussed in Chapter 15 that may be experienced by culturally diverse groups and the elderly.

•  Develop a plan for being more mindful in your life relating to one of the following activities: mindful breathing, mindful eating, mindful listening, or mindful walking. State your rationale for selecting this particular area of focus.

After reading Chapters 1, 2, and 3 in the text and after viewing the Films on Demand video Worried Sick, assess your physiological reactions to your current stressors by taking Lab Assessment 2.2.

Based on the Lab Assessment, address the following elements:

•  Discuss your results and explain if you are having a stress reaction to your current stressors.

•  Describe how you presently respond to stress and if you would consider this a healthy or unhealthy way to deal with stress and why.
